ART PARIS ART FAIR 2017 PUTS THE SPOTLIGHT ON AFRICA

 The 19th edition of the Art Paris Art Fair will play host to some 130 modern and contemporary art galleries from 29 countries at the Grand Palais from 30th March to 2nd April 2017.  This edition puts African art under the spotlight and features monographic exhibitions in the Solo Show section of up-and-coming artists.

Since 2012, the fair has built a reputation for its exploration of art scenes from around the world.  In 2017, Africa is the guest of honour with a project curated by an independent cultural consultant and exhibition curator, Marie-Ann Yemsi. She is working with galleries and artists from both the African continent and the diaspora to highlight the richness and diversity of contemporary African creativity. A symposium, a programme of video projections and several special projects will broaden this exploration and offer an in-depth vision of the creative fertility and energy of the African continent.
Spread across the different sections of the fair, around twenty galleries from South Africa, Angola, Cameroon, the Ivory Coast, Morocco, Nigeria, Uganda, Senegal, Tunisia and Europe will showcase the talented emerging generation of artists from the continent and its diaspora. Two galleries from Lagos – Art Twenty One and Omenka Gallery will present the works of Namsa Leuba Olu Amoda, Nathalie Bikoro, Ndidi Emefiele and Joel Mpah-Dooh respectively.
